On January 24, 2020, Nic's Kicks made the trip down to South Georgia for it's second sneaker shopping spree event. This sneaker spree was extra special because the recipients of the second #shoespree were students from Worth County Middle School in Sylvester, Georgia where Nic "DJ NiRo" Rogers attended school and later taught.
Thirty students from all grade levels were selected to receive $150 to purchase whatever shoes their hearts desired. The students arrived as a big group courtesy of the Worth County School System! Upon their arrival they were greeted by Nic's Kicks' volunteers, including members of Nic's family, as well as members of The Athlete's Foot staff. Students were measured by members of The Athlete's Foot staff to ensure that no one went home with the wrong size. After that sneaker shopping began!
With the help of Nic's Kicks' volunteers and Worth County Middle School staff, the students shopped not only for the latest style but also for fit, comfort, and future growth (kids who got more than 1 pair). When they were done shopping, each student had a chance to walk the red carpet and have a mini-photo shoot with their selections. Each student's shoes were sprayed with shoe protector spray and then packed up for the trip back to school. In the midst of all the shopping, the students also had lunch. The event ended with lots of smiles, funny walks from the kids who couldn't resist leaving in their new shoes while trying not to "crease" them, and tons of thank yous.
A special thank you to Herm and The Athlete's Foot of Albany family for your help in making this special day possible! A big thank you to Typhani Gray and Fox31 for the news coverage. Last but not least, we want to say thank you to all of our donors and the volunteers who came to assist. We couldn't have pulled it off without you!
